###What is Recycle Please?

Recycle Please is the coordinated effort of a group of volunteers passionate about improving Austin’s recycling process.

This project shows users which buildings in Austin, TX do not recycle. The application was developed in partnership with the City of Austin to enforce the Universal Recycling Ordinance set to go in effect Oct 1st, 2017. The team comprised of volunteers of Open Austin, a Code for America brigade.

###What is the Universal Recyling Ordinance?

The Universal Recycling Ordinance supports Austin’s Zero Waste goal by requiring affected property owners to ensure that tenants and employees have access to convenient recycling.

By Oct. 1, 2017, all properties will be required to provide recycling services to their tenants and employees.

Installation

  1. Clone the repo:
git clone git@github.com:open-austin/recycling-atx.gi
  1. Install dependencies through npm and browserify:
npm install
  1. Gulp
gulp build
gulp watch
gulp webserver

Deployment

To deploy:

gulp clean
gulp build
gulp deploy

cd into gh-pages branch

push your changes
